My Little Pony Rainbow Dash Friendship Bus Review

I received a free product from Crowdtap to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

My toddler Maddie is a huge fan of My Little Pony. Whenever we go shopping she always wants to buy a toy but they always come with very small accessories, which I think are not age-appropriate for her. That is why I am glad that Playskool has My Little Pony toys that are durable, soft, and great for little hands. The Rainbow Dash Friendship Bus is a great toy for her to use her imagination. She loves putting her little ponies inside the bus and taking them on road trips. Where will she go next? "To the park", she says. Maybe grandma's house will be next, we'll see what she comes up with.

I also received a My Little Pony Figure Two-Pack with Applejack and Daisy Dreams which are a great way to show her how to share her toys with her little sister. It is so nice to see them able to play with same safe toys and hear them laugh and see them smile.

WaterWipes - A Natural Baby Wipe Option Available at Mariano's

This post was sponsored by WaterWipes as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.

Baby wipes are the one item I always have to have on hand for my baby Olivia. I use them for diaper clean ups, messy faces, and noses. I was recently introduced to WaterWipes. I was able to find them at one of my favorite stores, Mariano’s. I enjoy shopping there as they have so many unique items that I can’t find elsewhere. Plus the store is well organized so it is easy to find things. Finding out where to get WaterWipes is also easy with their store locator, click the link to find the closest location to you http://goic.io/AWYHzQ. I found out there were multiple locations around me where I could get them, making them a convenient choice.

So what makes WaterWipes such a good find? Easy, it’s all in the name. WaterWipes, a premium European brand, is a chemical free baby wipe that is made up of 99.9% purified water, and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract.  Just two very natural components! Sometimes when we are shopping for baby items we don’t think twice about the ingredients, we think they are safe because they are made specifically for baby. But many products out there do contain some chemicals. WaterWipes are durable and effective without having any harmful chemicals. And I like products that are safe for baby, a plus when they are also all natural. It is sometimes hard to keep tabs on ingredients, but I do try and find any available options that will be better for Olivia and Maddie. They are both my number one priority.

Baby Olivia approves!
Here you go Mommy!
As you may already know my toddler, Maddie, suffers from a minor case of Eczema, this is good news for her sensitive skin. I don’t have to worry about any chemicals while I’m cleaning her face. I also love that she can use them while potty training, so we are sure to avoid the pesky diaper rash.

Because WaterWipes are chemical free, they don’t contain preservatives. The package will keep for up to 15 months before it is opened, so go ahead and stock up. Once you open your WaterWipes package, you should try and use the pack within 1 month. For me that’s not an issue with two kids.

Another thing I liked about the WaterWipes was that they are not inter-folded. So I don’t have to worry about accidentally taking out three wipes when I only need one (and for those days Maddie wants to use one her baby doll, she doesn’t take half the package). This also allows for the sterile environment within the package to be maintained. For the same reason, it is recommended that you do not relocate the wipes in an alternate container. So take a look the next time you're at Mariano's and give them a try!

Hair Donation to Children with Hair Loss

A couple of months ago I was going to cut my hair about 3-4 inches when it occurred to me that if I let it grow a bit longer I could donate it. After many months, I was finally able to make a donation to Children with Hair Loss. There are many organizations where you can donate your hair to, but many of them of them have their own guidelines. With CWHL their requirements were something that my hair met. My hair is dyed, and many organizations only want non-chemically treated hair. They also only require 8 inches, as where others require 10 inches. My initial thought was to donate 8 inches, but after reading about the children who get the hair, I decided to donate 12 inches in order to be able to provide for a longer wig for a child who wants long hair.

I stepped into the salon, and with out much hesitation the stylist just chopped off my hair, really no time to react. She made sure I was also standing up and not facing a mirror. This was actually a great approach as I thought I was going to cry, but I didn’t. It felt quite liberating to let go of my hair. It really was a weight on my shoulders, and I’m glad that a child will get to benefit of the hair. It will probably take another 4 years for my hair to be this long again, and who knows maybe I’ll donate it again.

Celebrate #TempranilloDay with a Glass of Wine

When you think of wine you might think of France, Italy or even local to the USA. But it's time to turn our wine taste buds towards Spain. Rioja to be more specific.

Rioja's cool growing produce fruity, well-balanced wines with moderate alcohol, making them easy to pair.

#Blogherfood15 Recap

A photo posted by Olga (@olgadavis30) on

This past weekend was a fun and educational one. Although I'm not a food blogger I found that it would be beneficial for me to attend this conference, BlogherFood15. Especially since it was local - Chicago. I read what the breakout sessions would be and most of them seemed to apply to all topics of blogging. There were both business and creative type classes, plus a social media bootcamp - Hello Snapchat and Periscope.

WDW Wednesday - Choosing a Place to Stay

Art of Animation

This week we are trying to figure out what our game plan is for lodging. In the past I have stayed both offsite and onsite at WDW. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.

Offsite gives you the option to shop around for lower rates at budget friendly hotels. You also get the surrounding restaurants that are usually far cheaper that those found on WDW properties. Many hotels also offer transportation to WDW at a free or nominal rate. For my family we plan on just sticking to WDW, but the rest of my family is doing their trip a little differently, where they may want to visit other theme parks with their older kids. This would probably be a better option for them as they are also driving there as where we will be flying. Disadvantages for us to stay offsite would most likely be location. It would be too much of a hassle to go back and forth to the hotel, and wait in line for the transportation, plus lugging around a stroller would not be fun.

Chick-fil-A Mom Panel - Another Year!

So happy to be picked to be part of the Chick-fil-A Mom panel again this year. Such a great program where we moms help the chain better serve families. We get to share our stories and ideas. This also means that if I hear of anything new or exciting I get to share with you all! Here's to another great year.

DIY Tulle Garland or Skirt

Now that I’ve got myself super busy with kids, work, house, etc. I’ve decided that now is as good a time as any to start working on Olivia’s first birthday. Yes it’s still far away, but I like to be a little hands on and make some things.

I decided to start with a tulle knot garland. Originally I had planned on using a combination of tulle and fabric, but when I started adding the fabric, it just didn’t look good anymore. I’ll be using the garland for her cake smash photos, and as decoration for the party. Once that is done I’ll be cutting it in half and making each of the girls a tulle skirt. But for now I’ve arranged it so it spread out over Olivia’s window like a valance.

Need A Little Help In The Lactation Department? Premama Vitamins

This post was sponsored by BSM Media. I received a free sample to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.

As many of you know I’m breastfeeding my second child. With my first I had a wonderful experience and we did it for what seemed like forever. This time around the circumstances are different. I’m feeling stressed and overwhelmed with having to take care of two kids, go to work with a new longer commute, and still keep up with chores and any social commitments. I’ve really noticed a dip in my milk supply. I know there are many products and foods out there that can help with production. I’m also not a pill taker. I hate having to take huge pills. I always feel like they are too big. I dreaded having to try and take my prenatal pills during pregnancy. I just wasn’t able to take those awful pills. Luckily I was introduced to the Premama line of vitamins.

Being an Extra on NBC's Chicago Fire

This past Tuesday I was able to get something off my bucket list. I was finally chosen to be an extra on one of my favorite shows, NBC's Chicago Fire.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect other than what I was told my role would be. Being an extra isn’t just fun and games, it really is work. But I’d do it all again in a heartbeat!  I signed up because I thought it would be a fun experience to have under my belt. And it really was fascinating to see what really goes into making an episode. In my case it was one scene of an episode. I’m not allowed to say much about the episode until after it airs, which makes sense, no spoilers for the audience. I can say that what I thought was going to be an 8 hour day turned into a 12 hour day for me. The other extras were there longer. But on the plus side we do get paid!

Fall Closet Classics

This week was a chilly one in Chicago. A reminder that summer’s very short cameo is almost at an end. But with that comes my favorite season – Fall, Autumn, OtoƱo. Call it what you want. It all means time to bring out those jeans, boots, and sweaters.

This season I’m excited to see that flare jeans have once again made a comeback. And as the season progresses I’m sure my flares will just get wider and wider.

I’m happy to keep a classic look going with a simple white tee. Nothing says all American like a white tee and jeans. A white tee is so versatile and with so many cuts, styles, and textures you can never have enough in your closet. And the best part is it won’t ever go out of style. Its a great way to stay casual, while looking put together. I wanted to keep the look simple and just wore it with a pair of boots in taupe, a great color for fall.

2015 Chicago Bears Meijer Family Fest

This past weekend we ventured out to the Chicago Bears Meijer Family Fest. I must admit that I did not realize how hard it would be with a baby and toddler. First I didn’t think we’d be stuck in traffic for as long as we were. I’ve been to huge sold out concerts at Soldier Field before, and the traffic was a bigger mess for this event than for that, which has more people in attendance.

WDW Wednesday - Picking a Date

Now that we know we are going to Disney, we now have to decide on a date.  For many people there are different factors that go into deciding this. Schedules, budgets, weather, and crowds are a few that come to mind.

For us, our children are not in school and our work schedules pretty much are flexible. So we could go at anytime. However, we do love the idea of bringing the grandmas with us, not just to help us with the kiddos, but because we know how happy it would make them to see their grandkids excited to be at the happiest place on earth! With that said, both of our mothers work for the school system. So their vacation time coincides with just about everyone’s vacation time. Our trip will need to revolve around those dates.

Happy Anniversary To Us

We recently celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary. And like years past it always seems like we were just married yesterday.

This year with new baby and a very rambunctious toddler it was a bit tough to find my husband the perfect gift. Thank goodness for the Internet. And more specifically thank you to the very addictive Etsy!

Keeping with tradition, I opted to find something made of wood. But what do you get someone who has everything and asks for nothing?! Luckily I remembered he had mentioned that he needed to get a new BBQ brush. I'm glad he didn't go out and purchase this for himself. I was able to find a moderately priced brush on Etsy that I was able to personalize as well.

Then of course I still needed to add a little something more. After all it was five years.  I went with an Italian Chianti from Tuscany as a reminder of our incredible honeymoon to Florence. Fitting that the year of the wine is 2010. I'm very happy to say that he loved the gifts!

As for me he also kept with tradition and gifted me a beautiful personalized wooden box for my jewelry. I love it!

Walt Disney World Wednesday - It's Official!

It's official. Next summer we will be surprising my little girls with their first trip to Walt Disney World. I can't wait to start planning. I hear eleven months is the magic number.

I've been to Disney World before but this will be the first time I try to plan for more than two persons and it will be well over ten years since my last visit. I'm sure a lot has changed.

I'm going to try and document my progress in planning our family vacation.

Let the magic begin!

Good times with my mom. I hope to make wonderful memories with my kiddos too!

Less Than One Week of Maternity Leave Left

I'm looking at my calendar and realize there's only a couple of days left before I return back to work. 12 weeks of maternity leave is just too short and I even took an additional two weeks making it 14 weeks.  I don't know how moms do it when they have to go back after six weeks.

I think this being the second baby it might be a little bit easier to leave her at daycare than with my first. Although with my first she was 12 months before going to daycare, my second will only be four months.  Like many parents I wonder if daycare is the best decision.   But staying home is not an option, I am a working mom. And props to stay at home moms, I don't think I could stay at home.

Welcome To OlgaDavis30

So much has changed since my first blog, Chicago Glambassador. When I first started blogging I wasn't married, didn't have kids, and worked less than a mile from work! My life revolved around make up and shopping. But now a lot has changed and its time to reflect that on my blog. I've added some new categories, although I still love fashion and beauty, I'm now incorporating my family and regular lifestyle. Plus I wanted a blog name that sounded a little more grown up, but still fun. I hope you follow and enjoy!
