When you think of wine you might think of France,
Italy or even local to the USA. But it's time to turn our wine taste buds
towards Spain. Rioja to be more specific.
Rioja's cool growing produce fruity, well-balanced
wines with moderate alcohol, making them easy to pair.
The grape Tempranillo occupies more than 75% of the
vineyards in Rioja. Other major Tempranillo regions include Portugal, USA, and
Australia. In total over 500,000 acres worldwide!
Fun little fact: Tempranillo comes from the Spanish
word temprano, which means early. Named because of its early ripening and
harvesting before other red grape varieties.
I wanted to participate in this fun day of
celebrating because I wanted to help bring awareness to a great wine that many
of us would not have other wise known. Many of us buy what we know,
Merlots, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir. But now that you've read my post
I hope you too join in on this celebration. And not just on Tempranillo Day but
any day. Now you have a new option to pair with your dinners or help you unwind
after a long day.

I was sent a free sample to try in order to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.
