Rimmel Steal the Look App and Sweepstakes

Ever wondered what you would like wearing your favorite actress, model, friend's make up? Now you can see with the Rimmel Steal the Look App. The App allows you to take a picture of a magazine, photo, or person and will create a look for you using the closest recommendations based off of the big selection of Rimmel products. The app scans the photo you take and analyzes it. You then turn the camera around on you and see the make up that was "stolen". You can then take a picture of yourself and the make up will be added to your photo so you can see exactly what it looks like. If you love it you can easily shop for the products in the app too! No hassle of having to go to the store, just buy online. How easy and fun is that.

A Gift That's Keeps on Giving - Rwanda Path to Peace at Macy's

I was gifted a product from the Macy's Rwanda Path to Peace line however all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Every year we get ready to celebrate the holidays. And every year I buy a new ornament for my family. This year my attention was brought to Macy's Rwanda Path to Peace collection. We are very fortunate to have happy healthy lives, but not everyone is so lucky. I was surprised to read that in 1994 the small country of Rwanda had lost, in three months, nearly a million people. That's 20% of the nation’s population! They were massacred when tribal hatred between the Hutus and Tutsis turned into ethnic slaughter. Neighbors killed each other in one of the worst genocides in human history. It is because of this that so many women were left to be the breadwinners of their families as husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, were no longer alive or jailed.

Stitch Fix Review - December Box

Happy Holidays all! Gearing up for our Christmas gathering this year has been keeping me quite busy. This time around I asked my stylist for some dressy, yet comfortable pieces to wear for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Overall I think I'm going to keep two of the pieces. What do you think? And if you're still last minute shopping consider a Stitch Fix gift card. Great gift for any girl or guy. It can be used towards a fix anytime. Hint hint. Or give it a try yourself by filling out your profile.

Renne C Alya Pencil Skirt Brown - $48
Max Treads Obello Peplum Detail Knit Top Orange Red - $44
Not crazy about the skirt pattern this time around. The fit is stretchy and comfortable, but for winters in Chicago, not practical. It wouldn't even see the day of light until maybe late Spring if I didn't forget about it during the time. The length is perfect though, and I'm short, so that's tough to find.  I tried the skirt on with a different blouse below and it looked a little better. The top I'm not a fan at all. I think it is not flattering on me at all. I can see the color being festive and all, but it just hangs on me. The material is better for a regular shirt, not a peplum style. I know this is going back.

Stitch Fix Review - November Box

Well talk about cutting it close, November is almost over. I can't believe it. Time is going by so quickly now that the holidays are here. I'm especially grateful for the warmer weather we are still having near Chicago. But I know once tomorrow arrives we will certainly get some of those cold temps we are so used to. Hope everyone had a nice time with their friends and family during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I know I did.

And now off to see what was inside this month's delivery. Really excited since everything is to my taste. Not sure what Stitch Fix is? Take a look at my first post here.

Pixley Greenich Striped Knit Top Burgundy - $48
Liverpool Kay 4-Way Stretch Skinny Jean - $88
This is a shirt I had already seen on Pinterest from another Stitch Fix user and I just had to have it. I specifically asked my stylist to hunt it down for me and she was able to send it my way. I love the color, perfect for fall and winter. My favorite part is the elbow patches. I guess it just reminds me of growing up and how mom had to put patches on so many of my clothes. Anyone else go through that?  This one from Amazon is cute too! The jeans are one of my favorite brands, Liverpool, so comfy and stretchy, but I'm not in need of another pair of skinny jeans, have way too many. I think I'll have to request boot cut next time.

Checking out HGTV's Santa HQ at Fashion Outlets Chicago

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...at least it is at our mall, Fashion Outlets Chicago, located in Rosemont. This past week my family and I were invited to check out HGTV's Santa HQ. Madeline was excited to visit the headquarters and visit Santa. This experience is tying in the digital and social media delights that we love. That's something new I haven't seen at traditional Santa photo stations. You can even make a reservation online so you don't have to worry.

When you arrive be sure to download Elf-Ray Vision in order to participate in the interactive portion. It was pretty cool to use our phone to hold up to special icons located in the headquarters and see some special surprises. Once you're home you can also print out the triggers and continue the fun.

Stitch Fix Review - October Box

I always look forward to this time of the month...Stitch Fix time! In case you forgot how it works check out my first post for details, but a quick recap is visit stitchfix.com and create a profile, for a $20 styling fee you'll get a personal stylist to put a personalized box together for you.

This time I decided I needed to add some new work appropriate pieces to my wardrobe. I can't even remember the last time I did this. I was really looking forward to a new blazer, and a more formal look. The pieces I was sent all worked together or separate so that was a great start. Being able to mix and match is always a plus.

Bay to Baubles Fisher Filigree Metal Collar Necklace in Silver $28
S&D Mandy Straight Leg Pant in Black $94
Kensie Rebekah Stretch Crepe Blazer in Black $88
Fun2Fun Holston Crochet Trim Solid Blouse in Cobalt $38
These were all great pieces coming out of the box, but once I tried on the pants I wasn't crazy about the fit. They felt tight, although a nice stretchy material, I didn't think they screamed office attire. Loved the blue blouse, but surprise I already own a very similar one that I wear often. Its a great color. The blazer was super cute, but the sizing was a bit small, this is an item I could exchange, but at the $88 range I think I'll have to pass, especially since I recently saw a Kensie blazer similar to this one at Macy's for a fraction of the price. The necklace I'm keeping for sure. It's shiny, makes a statement, and although I probably won't wear to work, I think it would be a great going out piece. At $28 I can use my styling fee towards the purchase.

WDW - Lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table

Cinderella

Oh my goodness, so many princesses! Madeline was beyond excited. Okay...me too! This was a dream come true for me too as I have always wanted to go inside Cinderella's Castle.

When we arrived at Cinderella's Royal Table, right at 1pm, cause we had learned that arriving early gets you no where, we were ushered inside where we got a meet and greet with Cinderella. Madeline had been talking about Cinderella since the moment she detected the grand castle from afar. For use opting for lunch was best. The menus were too different from dinner, and she was able go right after her Boutique appointment. It would be too much of a risk trying to dinner with two tired toddlers.

At the end of our photo session we heard a gong, followed by our family name. Time to go up the wonderful winding stairwell. We were seated at great spot with a view outside the window (we were able to see the fireworks from the stage show, next time we'll have to do a dinner). My girls were each handed a wishing star and a wand.

WDW - Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Review

I have to say that Maddie and I really enjoyed this part of our stay. Okay maybe me a little more than her! I was just so excited for her to get her first "makeover" into a princess.

Like many of the parents there I made my reservation at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at the Magic Kingdom 180 days in advance. The date chosen also coincided with our Lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table. In my opinion it was more important to get the lunch reservation and try and get a spot at the boutique before we had lunch. If I couldn't get a spot, my back up would be to visit the newer location at Disney Springs, but luckily it all worked out.

When I made my reservation they let me know to leave at least a two hour window in between plans. I thought they were kidding around, but really you do need that much time. You don't want to be running late. As with many things at Disney World, you hold your reservation with a credit card. Be sure that if you are going to cancel you do it 24 hours in advance, otherwise you do get hit with a small cancellation fee.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Cheese Enchiladas!

I'm sharing a super easy and fast recipe for Enchiladas for Hispanic Heritage Month. My familia is from Mexico, and we love eating food! There are so many ways to make enchiladas, but this is they way my family makes them, and its all about tradition, right? In my family we try to keep things simple since there is always so many around to feed. So this past weekend my mom and dad helped me put together a yummy lunch for the family helping to celebrate my niece's 8th birthday.

Stitch Fix Review - September Box

Finally, the air is cooling and there seems to be the scent of Fall in the air. This month my stylist, Kate, hit it out of the park with her Fall picks. I told her I need to add some Autumn colored pieces to my wardrobe and she delivered. My box was full of yellows, oranges, and greens. Love! Still wondering if Stitch Fix is for you? Take a look at some of my previous posts. When you're ready just sign up at www.stitchfix.com and fill out your profile. It's just $20 for your styling fee, which can be applied to any pieces you purchase from that box. Now lets take a look at what we got.

Eclair Brenyn Split Neck Blouse in Navy - $37
This was a nice light flowy material, perfect for the transition from Summer to Fall. This blouse is perfect for work with trousers, or can be dressed down with some skinny jeans.

Taking Flight Short Film Premier

Were you able to join in on the Radio Flyer Facebook Live event on Saturday September 10th? Back to School Style - Target's Cat and Jack

We love shopping and clothes, and what better excuse than back to school, to have us get ourselves to Target.

I was so excited to see the introduction of Cat and Jack, a children's clothing line for Target. Designed with kids, for kids. There are so many looks to choose from, and all at an affordable price. Plus the shirts have positive messages that I love, and cute designs that Madeline enjoys. I also found out that the clothes are made to last, but if it doesn't you can return it with a receipt up to a year later!

We headed out to our local Target and I had Madeline pick and choose what she liked. What do you think about her picks? She may have gotten a little style advise from mom, but she did the picking...and I happily dished out the credit card. She was excited to be walking out of the store with her own bags!

Most of the items below ranged from $4.50 to $7.00. I wasn't able to get pictures of everything, so you'll need to follow Madeline or I on Instagram to see the rest of her back to school loot. I wonder what she'll choose to wear first.

WDW Wednesdays - Day One - Epcot

Surprise Madeline, you're going to Disney World!

We woke up the girls at about 3:30 in the morning and got them all dressed up in their Disney outfits. We finally told Madeline we were taking her on a wonderful trip to Disney World on our way to the airport. Upon hearing the news she suddenly perked up and was wide awake. I'm not sure if she understood what was going on, but once we got to the airport and she saw her cousins waiting, she was excited and couldn't stop talking. On a side note I guess booking a 6AM flight wasn't the best idea, as that meant I was going to get zero sleep until the end of our first day. Sleep, it's overrated when you're heading to the "happiest place on Earth!" But in reality a week later, I'm still so tired. I know what people mean when they say they need a vacation from their vacation! But worth it.

Back to School - Haircut

Getting ready for back to school. It's always a good thing when my little girl, now 4, decides on her own that she wants to get a hair cut. She's been asking for a hair cut since her birthday, when I only let her get a trim. I wanted her hair to be as long as possible for our surprise trip to Disney World and the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. More on that next week!

So now that we are back that is the first thing we did. We visited KidSnips in the Oak Brook Mall, where they work specifically with children. Plus they are open till 8pm which helps so much as a working mom. I love Rochelle. She does such a good job and has great patience. Madeline loves that she can watch a show, ride a car, and gets a prize and lollipop at the end of her visit. Check out Madeline's new look!

WDW Wednesday - Memory Maker For Lasting Memories

I'm not sure why I even waited so long to purchase this, probably the price tag. But after doing some research I decided this was totally going to be worth it (I'll let you know when I get back for sure).

With Disney's Memory maker you don't have to worry about:
  • Bringing a fancy camera - you could lose it or damage it
  • Having a family member take the photo - Everyone can be in the photo
  • Asking a stranger to take it for you (well kind of, LOL).
  • Losing the photos
  • Running out of memory/battery on your camera or phone
The perks of the photo package:

  • Unlimited digital downloads of all your Disney PhotoPass photos and videos
  • Select Attraction photos and videos
  • Select Character dining photos
  • Discounts on prints of your photos
  • Magic Shots – featuring Disney Characters and more, added to your photos
  • Digital borders and stickers to personalize your photos
  • LIMITED TIME EXPERIENCE: From August 7-31, Guests with Memory Maker will have access to a private character experience with a Disney Princess at Magic Kingdom Park - Heritage House!
So yes I am excited about this. All you have to do is have the photographer scan your MagicBand or if you don't have one, your PhotoPass Card, which is linked to your account. You don't need the Memory Maker package to take advantage of the Disney photographers, but you'll be paying per download for those photos. With such a big group of us I'm sure we'll want a lot of photos, so the package is best. We could even split the cost between our big group. Unlimited downloads of photos sounds so magical to me! If you buy in advance you can save some money too. Get more details here. Oh, and be sure to download your photos, you have a limited amount of time before they're gone.

Stitch Fix Review - August Box

I'm so excited to finally be going on vacation with the family! This time around I asked my Stitch Fix Stylist to send me some Walt Disney World friendly clothes. Plus I also asked for a top that would make it easy to nurse my 15 month old on the plane. The last time I flew on a plane with an infant I learned that breastfeeding on take off and landing made for a calmer baby...I can only hope it goes as well this time around.  So check out my fix and let me know me know what you think. Want to know more about how it works? Check out Stitch Fix and make a profile or see my first post here.

Level 99 Rylan Cargo Short in Teal Green $68
Market & Spruce Sam Hi-Lo Short Sleeve Tee in Light Gray $44
I loved the shorts, but the color just didn't convince me, I felt limited to the types of tops I could pair them with. The feel of the shirt was awesome! But the fit was just a little too baggy for my taste.

Back to School with Minted.com

I received a free sample from Minted.com to facilitate this review, all opinions are my own

It's August, and for many that means time to think about back to school. It's been my experience that I need to label everything my kids leave the house with. I remember the days Madeline would come home with someone else's clothes, or sweaters, and even toys! Obviously she's not going to tell her teacher when she gets to bring a free toy home, LOL, ah kids. Don't worry we always return items that don't belong to us!

Motivating Women For Financial Success #WomenInspired

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Prudential and DiMe Media. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

Two weeks ago I had was lucky enough to be invited to the Prudential #WomenInspired event in Chicago at the The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel. I was excited to meet other bloggers and entrepreneurs that were just like me, women, mothers, wives. It sends a very powerful message when you can get a room full of influential women to share their journeys, the ups and the downs. Prudential is really motivating women for financial success. They strive to connect us with the right information in order to achieve not just our personal goals but also long term family goals.

Growing up as a Latina, my family’s main lesson was to work hard and save, save, save. We hardly ever spent any money on luxuries. Our travels consisted of driving to Mexico and visiting my grandparents. I think my parents had the right idea about saving, but what they never taught me was investing in my future.

My #SophiaBushXEDO Charity Auction Finds

I had forgotten to update everyone on the great finds I purchased during The Girl Project Charity auction from eDropOff and Sophia Bush. When making my picks I decided to think about Fall and Winter and found some cute sweaters. I mean let me be honest with myself, I'm probably no where near Sophia's size, but I managed to squeeze into some of her things. What do you guys think?

JOHNSON’S® Baby Helps You Enjoy your #LittleWonders from Head to Toe

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with JOHNSON’S® Baby and Latina Bloggers Connect. All opinions and text are my own.

I know many of you will understand that as a busy mom we value every little moment we can get with our little ones. Mornings at home are quite hectic as I try and hurry to get the children dressed and fed, before having to head out on our commute to daycare and work. Once we get home, it’s another rush to hurry and make dinner, clean the house and get ready for the next day. With all this rushing it’s a miracle we get any quality time together. I admit my kids don’t go to bed at 7 or 8 like other kids, but that would mean I wouldn’t see them at all! I want be able to talk about our day, play dolls, and read books.

It's that glorious time of the month when I look forward to my surprise box of clothes from Stitch Fix! Lets take a look shall we? Let me know in the comments what you think of this months picks.

THML Bauer Embroidered Top Coral $48
I really liked the fit and the cute detail to this top, however I already have three tanks in this color. I'm thinking I'll have to pass on this one.

WDW Wednesdays - FastPass+ Selections

That feeling you get when you see the the Locked button changed to Make Selections!

We’re finally at the 60 day mark till our magical adventure! That means that because we are staying at a Disney resort we can make our FastPass+ selections. The window opens at 7am ET 60 days before we arrive and we are able to choose three passes per day up to 10 days in advance. You can select one fast pass per hour without overlapping them. So if you have one for 945-1045, you need a window that is at or after 1045 for the next one. Keep this in mind when planning. For me, I tried to plan all FastPass+ selections in the morning so I can add more in the afternoon, but it doesn’t always work out that way especially if you can’t make your selections until the 30 day mark (those not staying at the resorts) or onsite purchases, as many of the passes are already taken up.

Stitch Fix Review - June Box

It's that time of the month again! Love getting a box of surprise clothes! This is technically my 3rd box, as my second box didn't quite make its journey successfully. My mail carrier decided it was a great idea to leave a cardboard box outside my door during one of the rainiest days of the year. Luckily I alerted Stitch Fix right away and they gave me a couple of solutions. I went with the option of just starting fresh and getting a new box.

So what did my $20 styling fee get me? First off I made sure to write a note to my stylist and let her know I was on on the look out for white pants. And voila, there they are! I think I like all of it. I'll have to hurry and decide before my window on responding closes. Let me know in the comments if you think these are keepers.  If you want to get your own subscription don't forget to sign up here. If you don't know about Stitch Fix check out my last post.

Shop Sophia Bush's Charity Auction with EDROP-OFF

If you know me, then you know I have a healthy obsession with Sophia Bush. I just adored her as Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill, and love her tough side on Chicago PD as Erin Lindsay.

She's teamed up with the eDrop-Off, to auction off some of her closet items, 1,500 to be exact. All for a good cause - The Girl Project.  Visit E-Bay and bid on something before it's over. I know I'm hopeful of winning at least one of my many bids.

I first learned about The Girl Project while volunteering at the Glamour Women of the Year awards in NYC. The Girl Project aims to unleash the vast economic and social power of girls through education. All girls should have the opportunity to get an education. If you would like to make a direct donation you can do it here.

Some fun pieces to inspire your closet this Spring from Stitch Fix. Check them out and sign up for your first fix! And don't forget to follow them on Pinterest for more inspiration.

Happy Birthday Maddie!

Someone is officially four! This little girl has come a long way from her 4.5 lbs days. She’s three feet tall, and finally weights enough to move up to her Britax Frontier ClickTight car seat! She feels that is her big girl seat, and is super excited for it.

Big things to happen this past year? She is officially potty-trained, she became a big sister, and had her first ballet recital. This coming year will be filled with even more fun!

The last couple of months Maddie has been obsessed with My Little Pony. We did her four year photos dressed as Rainbow Dash. Love how the photos turned out. You can tell she was genuinely happy to be taking those photos.

Chick-fil-A Moms DIY Salad Container Cow Bank

Challenge accepted! What a fun activity. The Chick-fil-A moms panel had to come up with a DIY up cycle project using the salad containers. I decided to try and make a cow bank for my daughter's coins.

Super easy. All you need is the salad container, white and black paint and a couple of brushes. Originally I wanted to add a pink nose but then changed my mind after seeing some cow photos.

I first made a slit on the top to drop the coins in. Then I pained about two layers of white paint and then added random spots. Figuring out how to add the face was tricky as I'm not really artistic. In the end I think it turned out pretty good.

Stitch Fix Review - May Box

It's finally here!
For those that aren't familiar with Stitch Fix, it is a styling service where you are able to try on clothes and purchase if you like them. You get 5 items, from tops to bottoms, accessories, and now shoes! There is a styling fee of $20, but if you keep any items this fee is applied towards your purchase. You can also decide how often you want a box, once a month, every other month, etc, or on demand. I'm going to try once a month, and then decide if I want to go to every other month. Average price of an item tends to be in the $50 range, but you can make sure to update your profile and let them know your price points or if you even want certain items not to be included. I myself chose the lowest price point and let them know that I didn't want any handbags.

Depending on how much information you provide your stylist, your box can be a hit or a miss. It's highly suggested that you leave your stylist a note with anything you might be wanting, or create a Pinterest board and pin ideas that you like. I personally created a Pinterest board, cause it's fun to do! And remember that you only have 3 days from receiving your box to decide if you want to return, otherwise you will be charged for all the items. Also if you decide to keep all 5 items you get a 25% discount! Shipping is free for returns as well. Or if you think like me, everything has kind of been added to the price of the item.

I hope my first box is an indication of the future boxes to come, as this was a total hit!

Papermoon - Mensier Spaghetti Strap Top $38

First item I saw out of the box, and was in love with. The back is criss-cross straps. A great flowy summer top.

Midwest is Best - Water Park Fun at KeyLime Cove

My stay at KeyLime Cove was Complimentary. All opinions are my own.
After talking to many friends about future travels, it dawned upon me that not everyone can get on a plane and go somewhere. So that left me thinking. We live in such a great area, the great Midwest, why not enjoy our surroundings. With that in mind I have decided to showcase some local area travel spots that are within a short driving distance. I’d like to call this “Midwest is Best”. There are multiple states in this area with so much to offer. For the most part, Illinois, my home state will be probably be the most featured, so come out and “Enjoy Illinois”.

Earlier this month I took the family to KeyLime Cove Waterpark. I heard the weather outside was gloomy, rainy, and foggy, but you could have fooled me! Inside we enjoyed 84 degree weather and tons of water fun.  I must say mid-week, before school lets out for summer was the perfect time to go. Although my children are not in school, I myself would consider taking them out for a day to enjoy the waterpark when it is not at full capacity. (Yes, I'm that mom, don't judge, I know you do it too). It was nice not having to wait in long lines or be bumping into other people. Weekends tend to be a bit busier when groups (think Girl/Boy Scouts) come in and use the facilities. It really is fun for ALL ages.

WDW Wednesday - Which Airline To Fly With

Boeing 737-800

I am now in the “who I should choose as my airline to Disney World” phase. I see so many low cost carriers flying to Orlando. There’s Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, and Jet Blue, along with the major airline carriers. Our decision will most likely be based on price, and then overall reviews of how the companies fare with traveling families.

I’ll have to do some thinking on how much luggage I want to bring, as some airlines charge for checked bags ($25 and up), while others include it in their price. I figure it is possible for my husband and I to pack the kids belongings with ours and be the only ones with luggage, thus bringing down the cost of the flight.

I also don’t want to have to worry about my family being separated because we don’t want to pay to reserve our seats in advance. I hear some airlines are more understanding than others when it comes to trying to make sure a family sits together.

I’ve traveled with one lap child before (internationally), and luckily it was a breeze. But something tells me this time around may not be so easy with two children vying for mommy’s attention.  This time around I’ll have to purchase one full fare for a child, but I will take advantage of that free or discounted lap ticket.

I think I am leaning towards flying Southwest. It flies out of Midway and has multiple non-stop flights. Plus I like if the price drops later, I can re-book and get a credit for the unused portion. No change fees. I’ve flown other airlines, and so far I have never had any issues with Southwest.

Who have you flown with and what has been your experience?  Did you encounter any surprise fees?
