WDW Wednesdays - FastPass+ Selections

That feeling you get when you see the the Locked button changed to Make Selections!

We’re finally at the 60 day mark till our magical adventure! That means that because we are staying at a Disney resort we can make our FastPass+ selections. The window opens at 7am ET 60 days before we arrive and we are able to choose three passes per day up to 10 days in advance. You can select one fast pass per hour without overlapping them. So if you have one for 945-1045, you need a window that is at or after 1045 for the next one. Keep this in mind when planning. For me, I tried to plan all FastPass+ selections in the morning so I can add more in the afternoon, but it doesn’t always work out that way especially if you can’t make your selections until the 30 day mark (those not staying at the resorts) or onsite purchases, as many of the passes are already taken up.
Of course I wake up bright and early as I need to make sure we get a pass for the new Frozen Ever After attraction at Epcot. Currently there is no FastPass+ for meeting Anna and Elsa, but I hope that changes. I have also heard that there are four magical doors to go through for the meet and greet and hope this means what I think it means (as I try to not ruin the magic for the little ones). We will only be at Epcot one day (and it’s not a full day) and need to fit everything in. We did not choose park hopper passes on this visit as with two small children don’t feel it would be worth it…yet.

One thing I learned is that both Epcot and Hollywood Studios have 2 tiers to their attractions and you can only choose one from tier 1 and two from tier 2. In our case we had really wanted to do Soar, but found out that the new Frozen attraction also counted as tier 1, so we had to make a decision and decided that the newer attraction would probably have the longer standby time and chose that. If we have time we’ll wait in line for Soar and the Test Track (or try to get another FastPass+ after we use are original three).  See list below.

Choosing the other parks passes was fairly easier. Most of the rides that Maddie and Olivia would be able to go on average to under a 20 minute wait, while the “grown-up” rides are over 40 minutes. At Magic Kingdom we decided to use the FastPass+ on the adults. One of my favorite rides growing up was the Haunted Mansion, so that was something I wanted to make sure we visited, and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.  And just in case we can’t meet Anna and Elsa, my back up plan: FastPass+ for Rapunzel!

At Hollywood we made sure to get early passes for Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster as the wait times can be upwards of 70-90 minutes. Originally we were going to get Toy Story Mania, but I’ve noticed their wait times to be in the 50 minute range.

Be sure to download the My Disney Experience app, it is very helpful for planning and finding out wait times. It’s the perfect map to a magical world.

What are your must visit attractions at Disney World? Anything we shouldn’t leave out on our first family visit? Any tips for meeting Anna and Elsa in their new home?

On a side note the Frozen Ever After ride had wait times up to 300 minutes due to multiple down times on opening day. Today the wait times are at about 50 minutes.
